Couple of notes for folks. 2 v 2 signups are at the front desk. Don’t kick the ball returns. If you step across the foul line it’s a foot foul – even if you dance up the gutter and avoid tripping the foot foul buzzer.
Game of the Night
LATE – A: #13 Young & Bowled (0-1) -1 vs #15 Yay! (0-1): This is a weird one. Both teams are still ranked, but one will fall out of the top 15 with a loss. Despite the big loss Y&B actually bowled really well against GOB, even with Pistol Pete out of town. Lou Dawg’s 3rd unretirement was a nice shot in the arm, and Senator ITZ looks like he’s in midseason form already. Yay! kind of tripped over themselves a bit in their opener, but they too get a big lift with their Captain Ralphie returning. They certainly don’t want to have another loss to stew over with another off week coming up for them. I’d pick them but I haven’t seen much Romo or Bombpop around. They’ll need to show up to pull this off over a fired up Y&B that might smell blood in the water.
Early Games
B: Happy Hands (1-0) -3 vs Lovernauts (0-1): Happy Hands won Thursday B last year, and still I picked against them week 1. My bad. I’m not sure how they’re doing it but why question success? The Lovernauts got off to a bit slower start but Rufio enters with the top average of anyone in this matchup.
A: Linguists (0-1) -3 vs Bowled & Beautiful (0-1): The Linguist fell out of the top 15 with their opening week loss. Lots of things that happen in week 1 end up being forgotten quickly, and perhaps it was just a fluke for a Linguists team that I expected to play pretty well. Maybe they were caught off guard in their first game after the move to Thursdays. B&B traded blows, 5-0 and 0-5 with UREA! before succumbing in the 3rd. They did a solid week from Dr. Pheelgood.
A: #3 Guns of Brighton (1-0) -5 vs UREA! (1-0): The Guns came out blazing in week 1 jumping out to a 5-0 lead with an 800+ game and never looked back. Mr. Pickles took home Bowler of the Week honors and GOBbers occupy the top three spots in the average list. Plus they get Hootie and Seatown back this week. They would like to back up the statement they made in week 1 with another big performance. Well it would also certainly be a statement win if UREA! could pull this off. They have the always solid Steff Infection, Knuckles who will be fired up to compete, and T-$ always is dripping with big game potential. It won’t be enough though.
A: #6 L.O.S. (1-0) -5 vs #9 B.U.I. (1-0): Both of these teams pulled off narrow wins over ranked teams in week one but they feel pretty differently about the results. L.O.S. survived an upset bid and realized everyone on Thursday is ready to take a shot at them. BUI knocked off the defending Thursday A champs and now has some confidence to them. Unfortunately for them I think the Twin Towers, with two weeks of practice under their belts since opening night, may be back to their normal form. If so they won’t be beaten tonight.
Late Games
A: #13 TDYOB (0-1) -1 vs #8 Liesure Rolls (1-0): I wavered on this one a little, primarily because I know each team would probably prefer to be the underdog (even though they both actually think they have the better team). The expansion Rolls had a big start and jumped from nowhere all the way up to #8. They aren’t afraid to read too much into one week either – they are feeling like world beaters in their new environs. TDYOB let one slip through their fingers against the heavy hitters of LOS. Now they need a win to get things back on track, and they have been putting in the practice. This week they have their original 5 with Shifter out to sea. I think they’ll rally by the narrowest of margins.
B: Roll Another (1-0) -3 vs Lesbowlians (0-1): The Package delivered again for Roll Another with a 174 average leading his team to a fast start. The Lesbowlians’ start was a little less quick, but they will not be deflated by one loss. Tilt-A-Whirl is due to rally, but Roll Another has a stronger team from top to bottom.
B: Bowlderdash (1-0) -1 vs Slaughterhouse 7 (0-1): Ah the vagaries of the schedule. Bowlderdash is sitting at the top of the cahrts with a win and 15 points. Slaughterhouse 7 only managed 6 points in their opening night loss. However the 7 knocked down 25 more pins than their old rival. Michael Bowlton may finally have the edge on his nemesis Riggs (even if Riggs has transferred the Captaincy to Ishmael and Coco Lopez) and would love to pick up a win while the opportunity exists.
B: I.B.S. (1-0) -3 vs Pinny Candy (1-0): Oolie’s back and he’s bringing the Poop (there it is). I.B.S. erased last year’s lingering winless nightmares with a quick victory to start 2014. Pinny Candy also had a big win. With two of their bowlers out due to the blizzard and with their former top bowler Skittles having left them behind they managed to crush the 5 O’s and grab 12 quick points in the standings. It was a good start for both squads and it will only get better for the winner here.

I don’t know Magic and Gatch have been killing it consistently in practice, this team looks to be a contender, BIB should be on notice.
Maybe thunder should get off the American Coronas for a while, its warping your mind. Gatch has become a star pupil in the School of Stevie Strikes. At least your team now has some help for Sneaky Pete. Good night now!
