As part of the build-up to the 2010 season, BP staff will be previewing the teams, starting with the four expansion teams.
It is not surprising that a team brought to the league by friends on I.C.B.I.N.G. should choose to name itself T.D.Y.O.B. I am a busy man, and I will not be writing out their full team name often, so savor it here – The Drinking Year of Bork. Captained by Dr. Thunder, TDYOB plans a fast, smooth and aggressive assault on BowlPortland in their inaugural season. Inspired by Supreme Court reject Robert Bork, they often tweak some of his more famous quotes to represent team philosophy, like “The right to procreate is not guaranteed, explicitly or implicitly, by the Constitution. But it is guaranteed by Dr. Thunder. Boom!” Dr. Thunder loves that one. The Good Doctor does not have overly high hopes for his season, hoping to spring an upset or two but ultimately not contend. Perhaps this team could best be summed up by another Bork quote: “It is a ship with a great deal of sail but a very shallow keel.”
